Sebo Walker is a professional skateboarder and artist who skates for a brand called Krooked Skateboards. This is a perfect match as Krooked was founded by Mark Gonzales and is well known for its focus on art. Sebo was born in 1988 in a city called Salem, Oregon but he later moved to Venice, California. He started skating when he was just 13 years old, but his career really took off after he was noticed by a local skateshop called ‘Exit Real World’ in 2004.
He began drawing at a very young age in elementary school, yet the moment he started skating with his friends was when his art began to really evolve. He decided to paint on griptape sheets which he later sold out of the back of his van where he lived for four years at the famous skatepark ‘Stoner Plaza’.
Sebo's work is visually incredibly pleasing and abstract with lots of vibrant colours. You can find a lot of references to the skate style throughout, such as the streets but also some skateboarding characters he calls "Pushers". Some of his favourite artists are of course the Gonz, but also Keith Haring and the Dutch graphic artist M.C. Escher. If you look closely at Sebo's work, you can definitely see some of these influences.
